Choosing a Wedding Dress

Choosing a wedding dress for the best day of your life is one of the most exciting experiences of your wedding planning journey. It not only makes you feel special and enhances your individual beauty, but can aid in the theme for the rest of your bridesmaids as well.

There are various wedding dress styles and fabrications within the fashion world and navigating the most common silhouettes can help guide you. Below we cover the basics on several cuts found in our collection.

A-Line Wedding Dresses

A-line gowns receive their title for the shape they provide and universally complement all body types. This cut sports a fitted bodice and gradually cascades from a natural waistline. It is arguably one of the most traditional and classic wedding gown styles as it provides a versatile silhouette that brides can pair with various fabrications and necklines. This is a perfect compromise for brides looking for something between a ball gown and sheath cut. Due to its complementary pairing element, this cut brings a stunning gown to any wedding theme.

Ball Gown Wedding Dresses

Renown for its regal appearance, ball gown dresses provide every bride a fairytale aesthetic. This classic cut whimsically pairs a fitted bodice with a wide, full skirt. Often, designers create the structural effect of the skirt using crinoline (a stiff petticoat lining) or elegantly layered tulle. This cut creates a beautiful cinched waistline and creates a romantically classic and noble theme.

Fit & Flare Wedding Dress

Brides who want to show off their figure without committing to the dramatic mermaid silhouette should consider a fit and flare wedding dress instead. This toned-down version still hugs your body through the chest and waist, while being a little more forgiving through the hips, derriere, and thighs. The skirt flares out above the knee, giving you a little bit more freedom with your legs. Fit and flare gowns are perfect for brides who want to let loose on the dance floor!

Mermaid & Trumpet Wedding Dresses

Trumpet and mermaid gowns bring an elegant, contemporary, and flirtatious flair to any bride. These cuts can create an hourglass illusion or accentuate the feminine figure as it is tastefully fitted from the bodice through the hips. Fairing out from the knees, these wedding dress styles elicit a stunning dynamic with ruching, beading, or ruffled skirts.

Sheath Wedding Dresses

Sheath gowns offer brides effortless sophistication with a lightly fitted bodice that falls straight to the floor below the hips. These versatile gowns work in an endless array of fabrications and form truly flattering silhouette to petite and slim figured brides. Additionally, sheath gowns are perfect for brides who are looking for a dress that will not encumber them throughout the wedding festivities.
